Big Digital Strike by the Government! 1.77 crore SIM Cards blocked, know why this decision was taken

Both the Department of Telecom and TRAI have intensified their fight against fake calls. TRAI has made a new policy last month, under which operators can now stop marketing and fake calls on their own. This will eliminate the need for whitelisting.

The telecom department has again taken steps to stop fake calls. Recently, they blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers which were being used to make fake calls.

To protect the country's more than 122 crore telecom users, both the telecom department and TRAI have intensified their fight against fake calls.

TRAI has made a new policy last month, under which operators can now stop marketing and fake calls on their own. This will no longer require whitelisting.

Action by the Communications Department

According to the communication department, around 1.35 crore fake calls are being blocked every day. Apart from this, they have blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers making fake calls.

In total, they have traced around 14 to 15 lakh mobile phones making these fake calls. On people's complaints, the department has taken immediate action and blocked around 7 crore calls in the last five days.

Stolen mobile numbers blocked

The telecom department has also shut down 1.77 crore mobile numbers which were being used for money related frauds. Along with this, 14 to 15 lakh stolen mobile numbers have also been shut down.

The department has said that this is the beginning of their campaign. Although technology has greatly benefited our lives, some people have also misused it, so a rule making system has been created.

Action has already been taken

This is not the first time that the telecom department has blocked fake callers; they have blocked lakhs of SIM cards in the past as well.

New rules have now been made to stop fake calls being received by users. From now on, callers will only receive whitelisted telemarketing calls.
