Ratan Tata had initially failed in the passenger four wheeler segment, due to which he was criticized a lot by the foreign media and auto companies. After this, Ratan Tata made many changes in the passenger four wheeler segment, due to which today Tata Motors has become the second largest passenger four wheeler manufacturing company in the country.
Ratan Tata has left this world. Now his photo will never appear with the car launched by Tata Motors. It was Ratan Tata who started manufacturing passenger four wheelers apart from Tata's commercial vehicle business. Ratan Tata launched his first car Indica in the fourth auto show in 1998.
Tata Motors had provided many features in Indica including air conditioner, central lock system which were never provided in any car made in India before. Due to this, Tata Motors got one lakh fifteen thousand bookings of Indica, but with time complaints started coming in about Tata Indica.
Which forced Ratan Tata to think about his decision to enter the passenger four wheeler segment, but after a meeting held in Taj Hotel, Tata Motors got a new direction.
Tata Safari
Tata Safari was also launched in 1998 Auto Expo. At that time, there was more demand for hatchbacks and sedans instead of SUVs, but by 2005, the demand for SUVs started increasing in the country and then Tata launched the updated version of Safari SUV. Today, Tata Safari is the most premium vehicle of the company and its updated variants have been launched 5 times so far.
Tata Nexon
Tata Motors planned to launch another SUV after the success of Indica V2, Indica Vista, Tata Indica, Tata Safari and the company finally launched Tata Nexon in 2017. Tata Nexon is also considered the safest car in the country, as Nexon has received 5 stars in child and adult rating in Global NCAP.
Tata Nexon is the first vehicle of Tata Motors which has sold 7 lakh units in 7 years. Seeing the demand of Nexon, Tata Motors introduced the updated variant of Nexon facelift in 2023. Which people loved just like the old Nexon.
Tata Punch
Tata Motors is always inspired to make cars for the common people. The company launched Punch in 2021 to give the common people the feel of an SUV at a low price. Tata Punch is a compact SUV and its price is budget friendly, yet Tata Motors has not compromised on safety in this.
