Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) faced a major outage three times in a single day. It is being said that a hacker group named "Dark Storm Team" has taken responsibility for this attack.

According to a post made on Telegram, this group carried out a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack on X. This problem started on Monday morning and its effect was seen till Tuesday. This group claimed that they 'took Twitter offline.'

As soon as users started reporting problems on X, Elon Musk himself posted that there was a major cyber attack on the platform.

He said, 'There has been a massive cyber attack on X, which is still going on. We have to face attacks every day, but this time huge resources have been invested in it.

Either a big organized group or a country is involved in it. We are tracing it.' This is not the first time that X has gone down. Twitter outage happened several times last year too, but this time its effect lasted for a long time.

Who is 'Dark Storm Team'?

Dark Storm Team is a hacker group founded in 2023. The group is known for its advanced cyber attacks and has the ability to hack high-security systems.

According to cyber security company Orange Cyberdefense, the group works on a pro-Palestinian agenda and recently threatened to carry out cyber attacks on the government websites of NATO countries, Israel and countries supporting Israel.

On Monday, this group claimed to have carried out a DDoS attack on X. In a post on Telegram, they said that they had 'taken Twitter offline.' Along with this, they also shared a screenshot, which showed connection failure from many places around the world.

Outage on X and its impact

According to a report by Downdetector, the outage on X was most visible in the US. At 10 am ET, 39,021 users were affected by the problem. As of 5 pm, about 1,500 users still reported service down.

A source associated with the internet infrastructure said that X was attacked in several stages of DDoS since 9:45 am UTC. However, he gave this information on the condition of anonymity, as he was not allowed to speak publicly.

In a DDoS attack, the targeted website is brought down by sending fake traffic to it. This method is not very complex, but its impact can be huge. This time too, this attack on X caused huge damage and troubled the users for a long time.
