The expectations about the new updates coming to Apple's virtual assistant Siri may now be delayed. Earlier these updates were to be introduced with the iOS 18.4 software update in April, but now according to reports, these features can be launched anytime next year. These updates were first announced in June, but now their release has been postponed.

Why is there a delay?

According to a Bloomberg News report, Apple is facing difficulties in finalizing these updates. The new features were designed to enhance Siri's ability to access personal information and provide better control for apps. However, these features are not fully ready yet.

Apple is currently working on fixing several software bugs, which is why this update is getting delayed. The company's software chief Craig Federighi and other senior officials have expressed concern about the performance of these features during internal testing.

Do I need to re-create the updates?

According to some reports, some members of Apple's AI team believe that the existing features may have to be completely scrapped and developed afresh. If this happens, these new updates of Siri can be released with the next version of Siri to be launched in 2026.

What will be the role of AI in WWDC?

The first glimpse of these features was seen in the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held in June last year, where Apple announced its new "Apple Intelligence" AI platform.

However, no major AI upgrade is expected from Apple in this year's WWDC event. The company is currently focusing on integrating its Apple Intelligence with different apps.

The storage of the new entry-level iPad now starts at 128GB. Apart from this, Apple has also updated the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air, which now has a larger trackpad, 14-key function row, and USB Type-C port for charging.
